CRAZY SWEEPER- Backsliders
Here we have the latest release from a band , who exist for about ten years. To be honest this is the only album I have heard from them. "Backsliders" release last year but before some days it comes to my hands. The first important thing for this release is, that was recorded and mixed at the Soundlake Studio by Dominique Favez and Patrick Aeby (Krokus). This album has ten easily remember songs. All the songs are about 3 - 4 minutes so, it is catchy songs. Crazy Sweeper plays traditional hard rock, also they have some influences from Pink Cream 69. Also they have some very good songs like "Love Pretender" ,"Surrender" and the open track "back to the real life". Of course they have a very good production and sound too. Also they have a simply cover and booklet too. So for all the fans of hard rock, Crazy Sweeper is what you need. Until their next work….

CRAZY SWEEPER- Backsliders
Crazy Sweeper comes from Switzerland and they exist for about ten years. “Backsliders” released in 2002 and it was recorded and mixed at the Soundlake Studio by Dominique Favez and Patrick Aeby (Krokus). This is actually the band’s fourth studio album. Not bad huh?
Crazy Sweeper plays traditional hard rock, that at times it reminded me early Pink Cream 69 (mostly cause of the guitars). For a hard rock band they have a very moody sound that’s a big surprise, listen for example the songs “Love Pretender” and “Surrender” to understand what I’m saying.
The song writing is quite simple but all the compositions are really interesting. This makes the listening of “Backsliders” an lovely experience. Vocalist Laurent Progin has a great warm voice that sticks in your mind with the first time. As I’ve mentioned earlier the professionally done production is exceptional. Hope to see this band soon with a major label on their side. A hard rock fan, this album worth’s your time.

CRAZY SWEEPER- Backsliders
This CD came as a complete, and pleasant surprise to me. Excellent production supports a really hooky rock/metal band with an outstanding vocalist and terrific players. I believe they are from France which might explain the quality :) Musically they are very mature, very tight, toe tappin and well balanced great riffs, perfectly placed drums etc.. Not a surprise when you find out on the website they've been at it since 1987. The singer's English is almost unaccented. The whole band is a sheer pleasure to listen to. The songs have a familiar base but the band puts its own stamp on them, keeping them fresh and they are all good. "Slide Your Gun" is even prophetic! Highly recommended. These guys should certainly be signed.

Indie 2002
Review by Urban Wally Wallstrom 24 February 2003From the yoddeling land with chocolate fields and tiny army knife's, comes Crazy Sweeper. Some of you may remember that I reviewed their previous two albums, back in the "Catchy Hooks" days (I noticed that Catchy Hooks is still, on their thank you list). They have really matured since though and "Backsliders" is without a doubt, their best effort so far.

CRAZY SWEEPER- Backsliders
Keep on rockin'.
Anspieltipps: Backslide; Surrender; Love Pretender; Now We Run

CRAZY SWEEPER- Backsliders
Eigenproduktion
Mit dem ersten Song "Back to the real life" legen Crazy Sweeper gleich tüchtig los.

Crazy Sweeper are a very good melodic hard rock band from Switzerland who have already released three great albums in the style of Gotthard, Fair Warning, Freedom Cage, Shakra, Talon, Dokken, Crystal Ball, Zeelion and Bonfire.
With these new pre-production demos - the band continue their momentum , as they rip into the first brand new song called "Down" which reminds me of "Big Bang Theory/Believe" era Harem Scarem mixed with the afforementioned bands. This is classy melodic rock with lots of guitars from Jean David Braillard and Emillio Porras, singer Laurent Progin sings some lovely harmony vocals into this pure melodic hard rock song.
The second and last track on the cd is a brilliant melodic rock version of The Eagles world wide hit "Hotel California", on this song Laurent almost hits a vocal line similar to Jeff Scott Soto and Don Dokken which left me quite impressed.
I really want to hear the new album now!! I can't wait as I think Crazy Sweeper are just about to release their strongest album to date, I can't wait to hear it and don't be to suprised if you find the band snapped up by one of the labels - watch this space for an interview with the band coming real soon.

This cd start a bit weird it sounds like you are falling right away in the middle of the first song, it doesn't really has a beginning. Crazy Sweeper is a Swiss band and as far as I can figure out from their French written bio is this their third album. The cover is a kind of cheesy drawing of a gate with gargoyles and the back cover shows a half naked chick in chains. This is kind of a typical eighties power metal album cover. Crazy Sweeper is however not a power metal band. These five guys are playing melodic hard rock. All the songs are very melodic, catchy and preformed very tight. Vocalist Laurent Progin has a pleasant sounding voice and performs all the songs very convincing. Highlight of the disk is "You Will Stay", a heavy on power metal bordering tune that shows that this band also can shred. Crazy Sweeper is a band that has recorded a bunch of catchy tunes and I am sure that they will be able to sell a whole lot of cd's if they were signed to the right label. (8)

CRAZY SWEEPER - BEHIND
Beuh beuh beuh !!!!

BEHIND-CRAZY SWEEPER (INDEPENDENT)
Switserland has a lot more melodic hardrockbands to offer besides GOTTHARD, SHAKRA and newcomers CRYSTAL BALL. One of the bands that still has been pretty much in the underground is the band CRAZY SWEEPER. This band has released 3 CDs and I have never read somewhere about them. This third CD titled 'Behind' was released last year. The album contains 11 tracks and musically it is very much in the SHAKRA/old GOTTHARD and CRYSTAL BALL style. So we get to hear powerful melodic hardrock with heavy guitars, but always an ear for a good melody. The CD starts with "I just need the wind", a nice slowtempo melodic rocker that is somewhere between CRYSTAL BALL and BONFIRE. The following tracks are all pretty much in the typical German/Swiss tradition Melodic Hardrockstyle, only the songs "Round me", "You will stay" and "Soldier without tears" are sounding a bit more in the heavier 90s style and are a bit average. One song really hit me, the track "Magic". This is really good. "Magic" is uptempo melodic rock that sounds like WILD FRONTIER and CRYSTAL BALL (could've been on their CD 'In the beginning'). If the band would have put more of such cheerful songs on their CD, it could have been as good as the CRYSTAL BALL release. On the other hand, also tracks like "Lose, baby, lose" (melodic rockballad), "Alone" and "You've got to get up" (both MHR like SHAKRA) are worth listening too. A nice CD, recommended if you're into SHAKRA, old GOTTHARD and CRYSTAL BALL. For more info, visit their website at http://homepage.iprolink.ch/~joh/ and e-mail them at: dpeter@span.ch or write to their postal address at: Daniel Peter, CP 42, CH1502 Chatillens, Switserland.

CRAZY SWEEPER "Behind" 1999 (Independent)
Crazy Sweeper plays very typical German hardrock. They got two guitarists so the sound is pretty heavy sometimes and you won´t hear much keyboard on this album. I think this is pretty boring album. I have listen to this CD couple of times and I won´t find a single song that I should mention. They just don´t get my attention. There are 11 tracks on this album but I really miss some great hooks and catchy choruses on some of the songs. All the song are not bad but they sound vey much like the same. But if your into acts like Shakra, Affair and Gotthard (Dial Hard) with less good production and not as good as the mention acts then look for Crazy Sweeper. Juha Harjula

CRAZY SWEEPER - Behind(7/10)
Crazy Sweeper(gotta´ love that name)Is a Melodic Hardrock band. From Switzerland. That have released 2 albums, before this one (Behind). The album starts with "I just need the Wind" A great Melodic rocker, that actually sounds very "Swedish".The Harmony vocals are really cool on this song. And the Intro/Chorus is great. The Piano-Ballad "Lose, baby lose" is maybe. The Best song on this CD.The verses sounds a lot like Winger. And it has a very beautiful & sentimental Chorus.Track 5 "Alone" is another good rocker. With excellent guitar work From "J-D Braillard & Emi Porras. The other members are:Laurent Progin(Vocals),Pascal Baudin(Bass) & Dany Peter(Drums). But there is also some weaker tracks. On this CD.But the Instrumental song "Wicked dream" is not one of them. You can find out more about them at their homepage. http://homepage.iprolink.ch/~joh & E-Mail: dpeter@span.ch
